The British Vogue x Snapchat exhibition is a fun event – an exhibition in London that combines fashion and technology in one place. I wanted to pass by for many days already and finally, I did it. For sure, it was a great way of spending the evening, and I hope I will have more opportunities to enjoy fashion like this.
The installment of Vogue x Snapchat: Redefining the Body, an exhibition that examines the physicality of fashion in the future. To make it more clear, the entire exhibition is utilizing augmented reality – AR. So, the exhibition aims to make design accessible to everyone via the online medium – not just for the Fashion Week front-rowers. This way, everyone was able to take advantage of the try-on and in-room experiences provided by Snapchat. Basically, here you can try on designer clothing in a realistic way, only by using a Snapchat filter. Of course, you can Snap everything and keep the picture with your favorite outfit on your phone. Pretty cool and fast way of trying-on clothes, don’t you think?
Who is part of the exhibition?
At the crossroads of Fashion and Technology, this exhibition presents the creations of six of the world’s leading fashion houses and designers. Therefore, you’ll see dedicated rooms for each of the participant brands. The rooms are different and have a unique feel, so it’s a nice experience going from one to another. You will have a different feeling in each room and, if you are a fashion lover, you will definitely recognize the style of each of these designers. Even if each room was quite special, my favorites were Stella McCartney’s space and Dior.
Six prestigious fashion houses and designers are included in the show, which is being curated by Edward Enninful OBE: Dior, Kenneth Ize, Richard Quinn, Stella McCartney, Thebe Magugu, and Versace. Every designer investigates many ideas about the body, such as ethnicity, gender, age, sexuality, and size.
Discover the fusion of fashion and technology in the British Vogue x Snapchat exhibition
Are you still not convinced? Edward Enninful of British Vogue has curated this exhibition – and this says a lot. Also, Vogue and Snapchat are such cool big brands – so it shouldn’t be hard to be convinced to go only by the title.
The roaming display created by Vogue and Snapchat made its premiere in June 2022 at the Centre d’art La Malmaison in Cannes. Now, you can see it in London Until the 5th of March 2023.
Overall, the entire exhibition was a truly remarkable AR event. Of course, I am sure this is just the beginning. Definitely, we will see many more similar fashion events that combine real-life fashion with emerging technology. For a good reason, London is the fashion city most recognized for its experimental, cutting-edge, and ground-breaking design. The UK’s capital is a chic hub for innovative talent, with a London Fashion Week program packed with cutting-edge designers.
Book your free ticket: 18/02 – 05/03 – here. The exhibition is situated in the very heart of London’s West End cultural district on the world-famous Regent Street.
